About Threepwood Fayre

Our story

Our story

Threepwood Fayre was founded in 1989 by John and Anne Dobbie, shortly after the birth of their first son. With professional training in Hotel and Catering Management and years of industry experience behind her, Anne made the decision to build something of her own — a business that would allow her to raise her family while creating traditional handmade confectionery.

What began in a single converted cabin kitchen on the family grounds quickly became more than a cottage industry. It was built on independence, hard work and the belief that quality should never be compromised. From the very beginning, the sweets were made by hand in small batches, using traditional methods that are still followed today.

By 1990, Threepwood Fayre was trading — supplying local retailers, attending craft fairs and steadily building a loyal customer base. Over time, their confectionery was served in respected Glasgow venues, including the City Chambers, where after-dinner sweets were enjoyed by visiting dignitaries and members of the Royal Family.

Our Story Continued

Following redundancy in the aftermath of 9/11, John — who had been working in sales — joined the business full time. His experience helped expand Threepwood Fayre’s presence across Scotland’s farmers’ markets and events, strengthening the direct connection with customers that remains central to the business today.

In 2010, the next generation stepped into production, ensuring the same care and craftsmanship would continue. Production has since grown into a larger dedicated facility, but the principles remain unchanged: traditional recipes, carefully sourced ingredients and small-batch methods that prioritise consistency and quality.

Alongside our confectionery, we have proudly partnered with Inverloch Cheese for over 17 years, bringing artisan Scottish cheese to customers at events and now online.

More than three decades on, Threepwood Fayre remains proudly family-run. The values it was built on — independence, hard work and doing things properly — continue today, with Kyle now preparing to raise his own young family while working within the same business his mum created all those years ago.
